Today is the first Wednesday of the month and I'm supposed to post something for the Insecure Writer's Support Group, but I gotta say, I got nothin'! Not that I'm not as insecure as ever--I just don't feel like expounding on it this month. Sure I could write about Is It Writer's Block Or Winter Blahs? or perhaps Will My Second Novel (Which Is Actually My First) Be A Big Disappointment? Or maybe, Why I Should Stick to Painting Instead of Writing. I could even write about Why I Can't Seem to Get into Blogging These Days, but I just don't feel like it.
How about giving yourself a fifteen minute writing exercise today There's not much time invested and it might just get the juices flowing again. Of course, I am loving what I see on the painting front too...
ReplyDeleteThat's just what I did, Liza, and I ended up with a blog post to put on Rhemalda's blog for this month!
Delete...now, to get back to painting! :)
This post definitely says it all. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what slips out when you really don't feel like talking, eh? ;)
DeleteSomehow I think you got your message out there in this post ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday to you!
I'm sure it's Freudian in some way. ;)
DeleteSometimes I think the best support group is in ourselves. It's ultimately up to us to write that first sentence, to start at the beginning and keep going until the end, to send out that first query and then keep going. You're ahead of me in some regards. Sometimes blogging gets in the way of all that.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of truth to that, Yvonne. Not only in being our own--or ultimate--support group, but part of it is learning to prioritize. Blogging can get in the way of A LOT of more substantial writing.
DeleteI think you just posted something for the group. :) I know exactly what you are feeling. We all have those days.
ReplyDeleteI guess I did, Susan. I wasn't really looking for support, and well, it came anyway! Thanks! :)
DeleteSometimes expounding on it makes it worse.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that's true in my case. Listening to myself whine makes me feel all the worse, lol.
Delete...thanks for stopping in!
*hugs* you can't force these things. If it's just not there today, then let it go. Things will look better later. Everybody has these days blogging. It's something everyone will understand!
ReplyDelete*hugs*

Yeah, I don't sweat it too much. I just know that if I don't post two months in a row, I disqualify to be in the group, and what if next month is worse?! Yikes! Oh commitment!
DeleteEveryone gets writers block/painters block, I think its important to know you aren't alone, and try to do something that will inspire you. It can be anything, as long as it makes you feel something other than stuck.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Sara. From experience,I can verify the truth of that. Usually painting will get me inspired again--and when I get stuck with a painting project, I switch to writing.
DeleteI've been in bed all day watching "Ghost Hunters" because I didn't feel like doing anything either. At least with your painting you're being creative.
ReplyDeleteYeah, well, I didn't even get to the painting today...I did have a big nap, though! :)
DeleteI removed myself from that blog hop for the same reason. Alex does a great job bringing bloggers together and I applaud him. But I want to post what I want, when I want. One month I was reprimanded for not posting. (My internet was out for two weeks.)
ReplyDeleteBesides, I do not want people to follow me and disappear into the void. I'd rather have much less followers that actually stop by and say hi from time to time. Having 1,000 followers may seem like an author has a decent platform, but not if 90% of those don't come back.
I like having my little nucleus. In all honesty, That's all I need. Normally, I don't do blog-fests--too much commitment--but once a month seemed manageable...unless of course, I just don't feel like it, lol. I guess it's a good discipline, especially for me who tends to be on the unruly, willy-nilly end! ;)
DeleteI totally get this. Completely. I need to call you soon, my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kind of knew you would. Hopefully it will pass when winter passes...
Delete...and yes, we should talk...
I think that "can't think of anything to blog about and, frankly, don't care" thing is going around. :) This too shall pass!
ReplyDeleteWendy, I've noticed the same thing--usually from bloggers who have been at it for a little while. It's hard to maintain the momentum--personally, I go in spurts, so yeah, it will likely pass...
DeleteSometimes you just gotta sit back and partake of the love; let us do our part to make the world better for you :)
ReplyDeleteI've been there myself; this is my opportunity to repay that time.

Donna, you're so sweet! Thanks for your encouragement! :)
