My Dad sent me a news clipping in an antique envelope--How cool is that!
And who knew that the Hotel Times Square was ABSOLUTELY Fireproof!
...and, did you know that "Letters mailed in hotel envelopes if not delivered, will be sent to the dead letter office unless the writer gives a return address."?
Dead Letters?
Might we have an Inciting Incident?

Absolutely gorgeous. What a treasure!
ReplyDeletePretty cool, I have to admit!
DeleteFunny. I actually did know that about hotel stationery. Nice envelope. Too bad he didn't use antique stamps too. That would be way cool.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least he used something besides the standard postage stamp--these ones are at least kind of artsy! :)
DeleteBet a few Postal workers did a double take on that one! You've got a really fun Dad. What a treasure.
ReplyDeleteI bet they did. Funny thing about my dad--the older he gets (thus the older I get), the more we relate to each other. Fun isn't necessarily a word I would have used to describe him when I was growing up, but this was definitely playful and he knew I'd get a kick out of it!
DeletePerhaps there is a story in an undelivered letter...sent to the dead letter office...unbeknownst to the sender...
ReplyDeleteI like the stamps too.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking--what if a dead letter turned up years later...hmmm...Or maybe something about a collector of dead letters in the dead letter office...
Delete...and yeah, I think the stamps were deliberately decorative.
Definitely would make for a great start to a story. You should so write it! The antique envelope is so cool.
ReplyDeleteToo many other stories ricocheting in my head right now, but it's definitely going into my file...:)
DeleteStopping by from Anne Gallahger's blog.
