Story for a Shipwright: The Soundtrack

There seems to be a music posting thing going around the blog-o-sphere recently, and since I have absolutely nothing better to post while I'm waiting for rejections responses on the requested material I have out, I thought I'd post some of the music that puts me in the mood of Story for a Shipwright. Not in any paritcular order...

This fits The Shipwreck stories very well, and I love the nautical theme of the video.

Lyrics and feel are just right with this one:

Again, it's both the lyrics and music. Wish I could re-name it Sophie's (or Marlena's) Lullaby. and the fact that the main female character, Marlena, looks a lot like Norah Jones doesn't hurt...

Okay, my story has no lighthouse, but this is very nautical and wonderful storytelling. Everytime I listen to it I get choked up...

I like this better than Cyndie Lauper's version. The music and lyrics fit perfect...

This is the perfect song for the end of the novel.

It's more the feel of this song that really fits...

In a weird and quirky way, this works, especially as an introduction to Marlena. Try not to be distracted by the video, which definitely does not fit!

...and of course, sounds of the ocean...

  1. Hey, some beautiful stuff here. And that Apocalyptica remake of the Metallica tune was great.

  2. I guess I did sort of put them in some kind of order, because I'd have to say, Apocalyptica's version of Nothing Else Matters is one of my all time favorite songs...it 'rattles' my core...

  3. I didn't even tie up the title of Apocalyptica's track with the Metallica song until I clicked play, and then I was like ooo... fantastic! Love the idea of creating a playlist for your story. :)

  4. Yeah, Jayne...my soundtrack is sort of the equivalent of an 'announcement' that I'm stuck in a January Slump and all I can muster is the energy enough to figure out how to post YouTube videos...

I so so love to mess with songs. Wish I could figure out how to do one of those fancy book trailers...

  5. It's funny, I've heard more about WiP soundtracks in the past few days than you can believe. I'm actually working on a playlist right now ... can't believe the idea never occurred to me, because now that I've started I am having so much fun with it (and learning a lot about my characters and plotline in the process).

    Love your choices :-)

  6. KLo, I know, I've seen alot of then lately too--thus, my soundtrack.

I can't wait to see what you come up with :)

  7. Love the choices. They fit perfectly. I especially like the John Mayer songs. I'm a little partial to his music.

  8. Susan, Seeing as you've read STORY FOR A SHIPWRIGHT, I'm glad you think the music fits. Perhaps if i ever figure out how to do a book trailer, I'll use one of Mayers numbers. I'm a bit partial to him, also. I love his blues stuff particularly, but to me, it's all good!

  9. This is really neat! I love creating soundtracks for my stories.

Nice choice with Apocalyptica. I'm a big fan. Their song Cohkka has inspired many scenes for me, and is my personal favorite by the band. Check it out!

  10. I can't start writing unless I create a soundtrack. Great choices on the songs!

  11. Bobby, I just checked out Cohkka--another very intense piece. Very talented artists...I sure wish they all looked happier, though.

Jenee, I usuall come up with my soundtrack as I go along. In this case, some of the music hadn't even been released at the outset of the story. Just the same, I need some sort of music to help me get lost in it.
    ...and...Thanks for stopping by :)

  12. I had fun listening to these...I hadn't heard the Metallica remake so that was a pleasant surprise!

  13. I don't have a playlist, but there are two Avril Lavigne songs that fit the novel I'm querying. Nothing so far for my new wip.

  14. Lydia, to be honest, I didn't even know Apocalyptica's version was a cover of a Metallica song for quite a while--that's how much I listen to heavy metal!

Stina, Thanks for stopping by. I'll have to do a YouTube search on Avril Lavigne. I love being introduced to new music :)
