Good News

Okay, it's not what you think...
I figure I might as well do something while I’m doing nothing…Okay, I’m not doing nothing—I am querying agents after all. And no, no takers yet, but I’m not going to blog about how many rejections I get. Believe me, even if I get a request for a partial, I’ll post that.

Meanwhile, I’m back to painting, and I’m happy to say I finished another one.

Consider this a gratuitous cross-blog intermission from my writing…

  1. That blue glass is gorgeous. I am really impressed with how you paint light.
It sounds to me like you have found a creative and positive way to be waiting. I sure hope I can be as saavy as you when I get there.

  2. Thanks, Tricia.
I love how light plays against glass, and trying to catch the illusion of it.
I hope to start another soon...

  3. Amazing. Have you ever thought about doing a children's book? You could do the writing and illustration -- a double threat!!

  4. Hmm, an illustrated childrens book...sounds plausible in theory...
I'm afraid that might make me doubly insane...

  5. I'm a total art idiot, but I think that's gorgeous. That's all. :)

  6. Yeah, well, most of the times when I read your writing, I feel the exact same way. :)

  7. In case that sounded confusing, I meant that in a complimentary way, Simon...

  8. That painting is awesome! You had me, I thought I was going to read an "I have an agent" post. Good luck, I'll keep watching for it!

  9. I guess that was a little tricky of me.
I'm just trying to get psyched about my painting again, in case 'the call' doesn't come...at any rate, I don't have another story to work on right now, and I really need the creative outlet.

  10. I'm with Simon. I don't know what I don't know...but I love this...especially the colors and the detail on what I assume is a linen cloth.

  11. Beautiful painting! Love the colors. You have talent. And, good luck with the querying.

  12. Yay, Liza! You could tell it was linen!

  14. Your talent continues to amaze me, especially your ability to capture the translucence(y?) of glass - awesome!

Oh, and you're first comment to Simon made me laugh out loud. Actually, I'm still laughing.. that's awesome too :)

  15. Thank Deb. I've started another painting, which has, guess what: Glass. A window pane, this time. I'm going to post it incrementally on my other blog...much simpler subject.

    (hopefully Simon was amused)

  16. I can't even think of anything "amazing" to say. My grandmother used to say, "that beats all i have ever seen." I think I know what she meant now. Surly you have a collection that we can look at,,somewhere that I haven't found yet.

  17. Thank Glen! I think you must be my biggest fan!

    I do have a website:
    jbchicone.com

There's a link to it on both my blogs--somewhere in that messy column on the right...

  18. What a beautiful painting! I feel as though I could reach right inside and touch that blue glass pitcher. There's something so soothing about a lovely still life painting :)

  19. Thanks, Julie. I like still life a lot--it's the least unruly subject, unlike antsy portraits and capricious land/seascapes :)

  20. It's simply beautiful! I'm always amazed at painters, because that's a talent I just do not have. Good luck in the query trenches. :)

  21. Thanks Elana. I'm tryin to keep a stiff upper lip...

  22. Wow! That is beautiful. You are one talented girl, Bridget!

  23. Wow, what a gorgeous painting. How wonderful to be so skilled in the arts in this way! Do you find that your painting skills/techniques inform your writing too, in some ways? Maybe with vision, or detail you incorporate?

  24. Thank you, Joanne.
I do find that I’m more oriented in the visual, and it definitely comes out in my writing. I have to be careful that I don’t get as carried away with detail in my writing as I do with my painting.
