New Header

Okay, unless you're looking at this in your Google Reader, it's pretty obvious that I have a new header. It sure took me long enough to finish it! Now if I can figure out some of the more subtle changes I want to make...

Oh, and since you can't really see it in the header too well, here's a glimpse at the title of the book!

Yes, it's completely gratuitous, but...well...what can I say, I'm feeling pretty desperate...

  1. Really? Dang? That's all you got? :)

  2. Is that your own painting? The header is beautiful! I can spend way too much time fussing with this sort of thing.

  3. Thanks for your kind words, Domey. :)

Yeah, it's my painting...I showed the whole process over at my art blog.

I spend way too much time fussing too, but I just can't seem to help myself!

  4. I can doodle, but can hardly dream of producing visual art with the depth of your work. It's really impressive!

  5. Thanks Rick. I really do try hard with the depth thing; I think it makes my paintings look more like oils, and less like traditional watercolors. I appeciatle your noticing--guess that means you must have an artistic eye! :)

  6. That book spine is so cool! The light shining on the open book is gorgeous too.

  8. Domey: I really like the spine--had to get out my magnifying glass for that one!

    Susan: Aw...shucks...

  9. Your header is beautiful, and even more lovely because it is your Artwork. I think having the title of your book there is wonderful, not gratuitous at all - love it! I want to buy it. :)

  10. Thanks Jayne. My novel's name on a painted book spine may be as close as I get to publication for a while, but for now, it's fun to see it there.

  11. Beautiful header, I love the essence it portrays. There's a sense of quiet, and contemplation, and definitely art. Very welcoming ...

  12. The painting turned out fantastic, JB, and it looks great as your new header! It's almost a shame you're covering up even a small part of it with the ist of "Novelist."

As for gratuity, I'm all for it. You should see all the inside jokes I slipped into the computer animation I did back in college. (And, if I ever get it touched up and onto my blog, perhaps you will...)

  13. Joanne: That's exactly the feel I was hoping to portray! So glad your artist eye picks up on that sort of thing :)

Nate:...hated to do it--font-over-artwork--but that's the price one must pay for compositional correctness (at least in this artist's eye).

...yes...about that animation you did back in college...when will there be an unveiling?

  15. Thanks Lydia! I feel a whole lot better about this one...now if I can bring my writing up to par :)

  16. Wow. Absolutely stunning. And I love that you put your name on the novel for inspiration. It's a portrait of your future.

  17. Thanks Mischief!
...indeed, I will a real live book with my novel's name on the spine. It's only a matter of time!
