Some Happy News!

I think I will be forever awkward about announcing such things, but I am really happy that Portrait of a Girl Running received a finalist award in the 2014 Next Generation Indie Book Awards! I don’t know if it will have an impact on anything like sales or popularity, but I do get a Finalist Certificate, a medal, some gold award stickers, and my book will be listed as a Finalist in the 2014 Next Generation Indie Book Awards catalog which will be distributed at Book Expo America in New York this week. I won't be attending the awards ceremony in NYC, but I am grateful for the recognition.

  1. Hello there again!.. Long time no write or speak! So happy to hear of this honour! Well deserved!

Perhaps the impact upon one's life is best measured by the internal joy and pleasure which only completion offers the creative mind! Money and other societally driven plaudits are temporal and fleeting at best. The creative heart... never forgets!

Pen on JB! My heartiest congratulations and hopes for the the successes!

    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

    1. Bruce! Hello! What a pleasure to see you again!

As always, I appreciate your insights on creativity. I think I will forever struggle with personal gratification vs external validation. It becomes very challenging when I feel pressure to promote and market my books (as a 'serious and professional' writer)--too easy to focus on measuring up to those externals that undermine creativity.

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!
